Another Mekong for Rasmus

A quiet day that's fishing

Rasmus has fished Bungsamran before, but his PB stood at 22kg. He had asked me where I thought he should spend his day fishing Prapadeang for the Barramundi or Bungsamran.

With Rasmus' PB being on the low side for the Mekong Catfish, combined with the facts that Bungsamran's recent restocking meant their where some fairly large fish that had not seen a hook in Bungsamran, and our track record in recent weeks in finding the big ones, it seemed logical that we should target the big fish at Bungsamran, again.

After a slightly later start than planned we had Rasmus set up and fishing, by 8am apprx, after a few small fish it was clear things where not as hectic as usual on Bungsamran, with up to 4 rods out at one stage runs where only occurring every 15/20 minutes or so!

As the day wore on we managed to pick up a couple more fish off the bottom, but only to around 18kg, but having weighed the fish accurately Rasmus felt maybe his earlier estimates of 22kg for his PB where slightly overdone.  Today was an exceptionally quiet day on the venue but even so it was pleasant enough, and of course having not caught the monster carp or catfish Rasmus had hoped for it was a little disappointing but as they say, that's fishing. We hope this leaves the way for Rasmus to pay us a visit and try his luck again, when he next returns to Thailand.
