It's a shame when the customers cant get the fish in! I have to do it!

Mekong Catfish & Samsong Whisky

At Siam Fishing Tours we don't just provide a service to Foreigners. Cat & Aom from Bangkok have long known about Bungsamran, and well since it was Aom's birthday she had decided to invite a few friends for a day, with a few bottles of beer and whisky, a birthday cake, and well as you can see a few decent fish. I got down to Bungsamran early to set up with Boy, and in typical Thai style still found myself fishing alone until about midday, by which time I'd bagged a decent carp for our customer as well as a number of Mekongs touching 30kg. The fish were taking well today, and in fact I did stop fishing after about an hour for fear of using up all the bait!

Eventually Cat and her party arrived. A group of 5 girls, with bottles of whisky and a birthday cake in tow. Me and and Boy gave each other a bit of an old fashioned look, as if to say "we are going to have a fun afternoon!" And we did exactly that, fishing on two rods the Striped Catfish and the Mekongs kept coming thick and fast, and the whisky flowed too! Around 4pm a strike resulted in powerful run that Aom could not handle, each of the girls took the rod in turns but none could really do anything with it, so it was left to me bag the best fish of the day, (shame!) a nice Mekong of about 53kg.
