Indian Carp

Indian Carp - Description

For us at least, there appears to be some confusion at present between a Rohu and an Indian Carp. All we know is that this fish capture from Palm Tree Lagoon was a stunningly beautiful carp of some 30lbs+. We have captured this species that the owner of Palm Tree Lagoon calls an "Indian Caho" as well as another species he calls "Rohu" so to this venue at least these are 2 different species. Certainly from our perspective these are different fish, the Rohu has a silly little puckered mouth, this fish had a mouth similar to a Giant Siamese Carp, its body was similar in some regards to except it was more slender across its width and deeper down the flank, it had very long decorative fins, very similar to how a Chao Praya Catfish has long decorative fins when compared to the Mekong Catfish. This was one of the best looking carp we have ever captured in Thailand. Answer by E-mail please can someone clear this confusion up? Here is an interesting link about Indian Carp Hybridization that perhaps answers some of the questions about the confusion.
