Lake Monsters or Predator Lake as it is sometimes known now is currently the "in vogue" fishing destination near to Bangkok, having produced numerous large Arapaima in the last year or so. It has to be said, that although an expensive place to fish, Lake Monsters has been producing the goods for our customers in recent months.
Set in Rural Ratchburi Province Lake Monsters is an easy 1 to 2 hours drive from Bangkok, it's the perfect destination for those that want to try something different than Bungsamran, or the other more traditional Thai fishing parks. The size, shape and setting of Lake Monsters, makes this venue very reminiscent of some English or European lakes, although the iconic Palm Trees that can be seen in the picture above tend to give it away as something else! (Maybe it's in Torquay?) Not to mention the monsters lurking beneath the surface.
Fished correctly it is not unusual to take 7 or 8 different species of predator in a day at this lake, most of which are likely to be of Amazonian origins. The Arapaima commonly put in an appearance, as do Amazonian and Thai Red Tail's, Sorubim, Barramundi, Wallagoo, Pacu. Interestingly now as well the venue has some Siamese Carp and Mekongs in small numbers. What's more some of these fish are enormous! With Arapaima touching perhaps 180kg/400LB, Red-tails at up to 40kg, and many other exotic and often very appealing looking fish, Lake Monsters makes a great day's fishing for anyone looking for action on light to medium tackle, from unusual and exotic species.
Located around 100km from Bangkok Central, this venue is well situated for day trippers and those on extend fishing itineraries alike.
